Featured Breaking: Google to Release Five Nexus Devices to Celebrate Android's Fifth Birthday

It seems that the rumors of Google expanding its Nexus program to a number of OEMs this fall instead of taking favourites is ringing true. Talk Android have a reliable source telling them Google will in fact bring five devices under the Nexus umbrella this fall, in order to celebrate our green friend’s fifth birthday come November 5th. It’s unclear whether or not Google will unveil or indeed launch the devices on the 5th at this point as is who the fantastic five will be.

Critics are going to call this out as a by-product of the Googlerola deal to keep its OEM partners onside now that they have their own personal hardware company. If anything, this is – if you ask me – going to have  nothing but positive effects on the ecosystem as a whole. To be able to pick from a number of high-end device manufacturers and still have the latest updates from Google is nothing short of a dream. How often have we wished this phone from Sony, or that phone from HTC ran stock Android, out of the box? I think we all have at one point and perhaps, finally, November will make this wish come true.

Incidentally, why don’t you check out our list of five companies we’d love to see make a Nexus device we covered when the news broke last week?
