Motorola XOOM is the first non-Nexus AOSP tablet out there. However, you must be wondering when is it going to receive the latest Android OS, Jelly Bean. Google promised a July update for the XOOM and it delivered. We recently reported that a soak test for XOOM Wi-Fi only (US Version) has been conducted to test the performance of Jelly Bean on the tablet and looks like it was a success as official OTA Jelly Bean update has been rolling out to the device as of now. We have received several reports that the Wi-Fi XOOM (US Version) with stock ROM is now getting the Jelly Bean (JRO03H) update. So, grab your XOOM now and taste the greatness of Jelly Bean on your tablet.
The Wi-Fi version of XOOM has always been at forefront to receive updates while the XOOM 4G updates come out at a slower pace. Ice Cream Sandwich update for the XOOM Wi-Fi was rolled out in early January this year, on the other hand XOOM 4G tasted ICS last month. So, that gives us an idea on when the XOOM 4G will get the Jelly Bean update. (Probably when Lime-Pie is out! too soon?)
So, if you’re still running the stock ROM on your Wi-Fi XOOM then start tapping that Check for updates button in the Settings menu and if you’re lucky you’ll get to experience the Project Butter for yourself. There are no words on when the update will hit the International version of XOOM but in the wake of today’s US update it is safe to assume that the International update will soon follow. We have reports coming in that the UK version is also receiving the update.
ProTip: If the “Check for updates” method doesn’t work for you then try the following steps.
– Goto Settings>Apps>Google Framework
– Force Stop and Clear the Data/Cache of the Framework.
– Now, Check for updates
– Repeat the method for at least ten times and you’ll probably hit jackpot.
