Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 is the tablet that we all have been looking forward to. It has been a long wait since MWC, when Samsung took the tablet back to the lab for some more tweaks and changes. Although the outcome has been great and finally the Galaxy Note 10.1 is upon us, officially. There have been several rumors about the specifications of the device like it would boast a Quad-Core chip same as the Galaxy S3 or it’ll be packing 2GB of RAM, well folks Samsung has just proved that those rumors were actually correct. The galaxy Note 10.1 does pack 2GB of RAM with a Quad-Core Exynos chip.
Today, Samsung came out quietly and announced the global availability of the Galaxy Note 10.1 in a press release. The tablet will start hitting markets in US, UK, Germany and Korea in August. (yes! this month) while other countries will soon follow, probably in a couple of months. The initial batch of devices will only include the Wi-Fi only and 3G enabled version while the LTE enabled Note 10.1 will be out later this year.
If you’ve forgotten about the spec of the Galaxy Note 10.1 then here’s quick official reminder about what the tablet will be packing under the hood.
- Android 4.0 (Upgrade to Jelly Bean will soon follow) with TouchWiz
- Quad-Core Exynos chip
- 16/32/64 GB variants with expandable memory via microSD card slot.
- 1280x800p resolution display
- 5MP rear shooter, 1.9MP front facing camera
- S-Pen, Smart Stay (as found in Galaxy S3)
- Multiscreen support for certain built-in apps
- Dimension – 262 x 180 x 8.9mm
- 7,000mAh battery
Samsung has made some changes to the tablets body and included a S-Pen holder/slot thus making it a bit thicker than the original Galaxy Tab 10.1 (8.6mm). Multiscreen support is the best feature of the Note 10.1 so far. It gives you the real multitasking experience, you can watch YouTube videos and take notes (Yes! I’m talking academics here) at the same time with both apps running in two different windows simultaneously. Multitasking will be a lot faster and smoother thanks to the whopping 2 Gigs of RAM. Check out the official launch video below to get an idea about the UI of the device and see multi(screen)tasking in action.
