IFA 2012 is coming up in exactly one week and top manufacturers will be announcing various devices during the six day event in Berlin. There’s been a lot of chatter from various companies and of course plenty of rumors. All in all, it’s looking to be an Android media storm.
Samsung is expected to announce the next generation Galaxy Note and potentially talk about a rumored 11.8 inch tablet. And with the talk of a 2560×1600 resolution, that would be one pretty looking display. Samsung’s event is August 29th so their announcements won’t be at IFA 2012 per say, but it’s during the same week.
Sony is also holding a press conference the same day as Samsung and the leaked Xperia tablet will definitely be part of the discussion. Leaked last month, it features an NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor, 9.4 inch 1280×800 display, Android 4.0, 8 megapixel rear-facing camera, 1 megapixel front-facing camera, and 6000mAh battery. There’s also going to be talk of the Xperia T, Z, and SL smartphones, Playstation Mobile, and possibly even mention of a new Google TV.
LG has been buzzing around the Android community with their Optimus G which will potentially be shown off, as well as the Optimus Vu, a competitor to the Galaxy Note. Heck, they might even announced a Google TV like Sony. With HTC, one can’t be too certain. It was recently brought up that the company is struggling a bit and since the launch of the One X, One S, EVO 4G LTE, etc., they’ve been a little under the radar lately. That doesn’t mean they won’t announce anything, it’s just anyone’s guess. There is the possibility of the One X+ and a new Flyer tablet.
Google’s deal to acquire Motorola Mobility went through not too long ago and they could bring the thunder or not at IFA 2012. Microsoft is usually pretty quiet during the event, but with Windows 8 set to release here very soon, it wouldn’t be surprising to see them pimping Windows 8 tablets (definitely Surface), ultrabooks, and laptops.
Huawei announced the Ascend D Quad earlier in the year at Mobile World Congress, yet it never did launch. Maybe we’ll hear more about what happened with that as well as the 10.1 inch quad-core tablet with an awesome 1920 x 1200 display.
Lastly, Acer is said to bring out their answer to Google’s Nexus 7 tablet, Archos to debut a 10 and 13 inch tablet, an Android powered camera from Nikon, and much much more.
