When you think of the hottest locations to find experts and diehards in the Android community, you may not think of Canada first. The folks behind AndroidTO, a tech event scheduled for Thusday, October 25th, are ready to shake the rest of the world’s preconceptions.
The event, which is scheduled to last from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Scotiabank Theatre in Toronto, offers attendees three separate options for their experience: the developer track, the business of mobile track, and the design track. AndroidTO has clearly gone a long way to recruit presenters that know their stuff. The experience alone of these folks is enough reason to pay attention to what they have to say. Combine that experience with topics that will help shape the Android community, and you’re in business!
Here’s a quick look at the keynote speakers of the event: Kim Pimmel and Chris Haseman.
Kim Pimmel is the current design lead for Adobe’s user experience team, and he has worked on projects for a few companies you may have heard of like the New York Times, MTV, NBC, Samsung, and Wired. Pimmel’s presentation is entitled “Pull to Refresh: Leveraging Unused Gestures in Mobile Design,” and the focus is on creating beautiful, effective interfaces for the increasingly complex needs of mobile apps.
Chris Haseman is the lead Android developer for Tumblr, and he has an impressive list of accomplishments, as well, including writing the book “Creating Android Applications” with Peach Pit Press. Haseman has been involved in mobile software since 2003, and his presentation is aptly entitled “I Wish I’d Known That When I Started.” His talk will specifically focus on simplicity and responsibility in mobile software, efficiency and preparation for development, and the value of exchanged trust and listening to your community of users.
