We’ve gotten word thanks to Asus themselves that they’ll be unveiling the Padfone 2 come October 16th and interestingly enough, through two simultaneous events, one in Milan, Italy and the other in Taipei, Taiwan. We’re not sure what that’s all about, but hey, whatever floats your boat.
Asus has done very well in the mobile marketplace, well, at least with tablets and their line of Transformer Primes. The original Padfone was plagued with a delay thanks to supply chain issues in regards to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S4 processor. It never did sell in large amounts, but so didn’t a lot of other phones out there.
We reported on the next generation Padfone yesterday and specs are very scarce at this point including pricing, but it does appear that the Padfone 2 will be rocking a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor. Not only that, but there’s also rumors that the phone will be packing 2GB of RAM as well, most notably to not be overshadowed by LG’s Optimus G launching in the states towards the end of this year.
What makes the Padfone different from other devices on the market is the fact that it also functions as a tablet when hooked into the station. Best of all, the station has a built-in battery which keeps your phone and buzzing along even after you unhook it.
