With the wide range of apps to choose from in the Google Play Store, there’s just about every kind of game to choose from. Over the years, Android as well as other mobile platforms, have transformed into a powerhouse for apps and gaming continues to rise.
Now, every smartphone currently running Android can run games, that’s nothing new. But what about a handheld device that is specifically for games? PlayMG thinks it could be a winning concept and has launched their very own Android powered gaming system.
Priced at $149 through November 4th, $169 after that, the MG has full access to the Play Store so I guess you could also download other apps if you wanted.
Here’s the specs:
- 4 inch display with Gorilla Glass
- 1GHZ single-core processor
- 1GB RAM
- 4GB internal storage with included 8GB microSD card (supports up to 64GB)
- 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera
- WiFi, GPS
- Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
For such a cheap device, the specs aren’t that impressive, but will run games okay. However, probably nothing too cutting edge. Also, the design is rather childish looking, then again, their target demographic is kids and teenagers. What do you think? Is there potential for an Android powered handheld gaming device?
Here’s a video below which shows off the MG:
