Featured: Sony Nexus X Confirmed to be Faked!

Can’t really say I’m surprised by this. From the moment the pictures starting hitting all the major blogs I thought it was a fake. I mean look at the pictures, it looks like an oversized TV remote. And all the scuff marks on the back. Just didn’t look real. Today the hoax-er came out and created a new Tumblr, Anatomy of a Hoax, where he explains the whole story.

On the Tumblr site, Anatomy of a Hoax, there is a full infographic along with the entire story about how he was able to pull this off. He goes from creating a Picasa account and uploading the “fake” pictures, to the Xperia Blog picking it up first and the news spreading to other sites like Android and Me, Android Central and Phone Arena. He even shows how he made the fake pictures of this Nexus X device.

This Nexus season has been pretty weird. This is the second hoax we’ve seen in the past couple weeks. We all remember all those rumors Android and Me published a couple weeks ago right? Then the hoax-er came out in Android Police’s comments about the whole deal. We here at Android Headlines love rumors. We love this time of year where it’s crazy busy with all kinds of rumors and leaks. But deliberately fake rumors and leaks are not something we love. Hopefully from now until October 29th, we’ll only see rumors and leaks that could be real, no more hoaxes please.

But if you ask me for my honest opinion, this is someone who has way to much time on their hands. According to his infographic, it took over 7 hours to do the entire hoax. In which it spread to many news sites in less time than that.

We’d all like to see a Sony Nexus device right? And the ‘Nexus X’ name is pretty awesome, almost like the Nexus Prime that was the rumored name of the Galaxy Nexus last year. Sounds much better than the Nexus 4, that is supposedly LG’s name for their Nexus device we’ve seen around lately.
