Google Play gift cards have been out since August in increments up to $50 and can be snagged at just about any popular retailer. However, there’s some people that, instead of buying a gift card, would just like to buy credits online and have them automatically added to an account.
Well, it appears that Google has been listening and has added the ability to purchase Google Play credits directly online from the source. No more physical gift cards, well, if you don’t want one. To buy credits, simply go to the Google Play Store and at the bottom of the page, you’ll see “Buy Google Play Credit”. Once you click that, a window will pop-up which gives you several options to choose from, up to $50 like with the gift cards.
This is a welcome addition and great for those who don’t want to have to run to a store and snag a gift card. With the credits however, the pricing increments may be a bit odd. For example, from $15, it goes to $25 and then $50. What is someone wants $20? Or $30 in credits? Yes, it’s a way for Google to get people to opt for the higher increments, but maybe being allowed to enter a custom amount would be nice.
