Featured: Google Accidentally Teases the Web with New TV Features

Google accidentally let a video go public this weekend that showed off some new features coming to Google TV. That video is now private, but Engadget was able to snag a few screenshots before the video was pulled.

New Features

Forget the idea of a remote control. Google wants to integrate your television with the mobile devices you already have in your hands. Google TV users will be able to select the program they want to watch on their televisions by using their phones or tablets.

Want to take that convenience one step further? Google is making improvements to the search program on Google TV, including the ability to search by voice.

Soon enough you’ll be able to sit on your couch without having to look for the TV remote control. You’ll pull up your Google TV app and then tell it aloud to find your favorite show. If you’re not sure what to watch, you can use a new mini-guide overlay that’s personalized to the data you supply to Google through its TV & Movies app.

Unfortunately, we can’t be specific with when the new features will become available to Google TV users. Enagadget contacted Google after the video was pulled, and Google had this to say, “We’re excited to bring users the next version of Google TV’s software in the months ahead, but have nothing further to announce at this time.

Here’s to hoping for sooner rather than later!
