The ADzero Bamboo Smartphone Brings Quad-Core Speed Inside A Natural Case

Most smartphones are wrapped in hard plastic, some even aluminum. For one, it’s cheaper and durable and two, it’s far easier to manufacture than other materials. There’s been various wooden cases on the market that you could buy separately, but that was about it.

The ADzero Bamboo brings a totally different look and feel to a smartphone, while also making sure to bring decent specs. Because the phone uses bamboo, it has a totally different feel and is said to be very lightweight. Here’s the specs:

  • 4.5 inch TFT LCD at 720 x 1280 (326 ppi)
  • 1.4GHZ Samsung Exynos 4 Quad-Core processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 16GB internal storage
  • 8 megapixel rear-facing camera
  • 0.3 megapixel front-facing camera
  • WiFi, GSM, UMTS/HSPA+
  • 2,050 mAh battery
  • Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich

The phone is expected to launch via a Kickstarter campaign and will run at $700 which makes it look like your paying a premium for the wood here considering the release of the Nexus 4 by Google however, it is an unlocked device. It is running Ice Cream Sandwich though which may be a bit off putting considering that 4.2 was just announced recently.

There’s no confirmed date when the Kickstarter campaign will launch, but ADzero says it’ll go live in a matter of weeks. If you want to wait out until next year, the Bamboo should be out in the marketplace and cost around the same price.
