Motorola Finalizes New Plan: $100 Trade for Old Devices!

Back in October Moto lovers got the bad and horrible news about which of their beloved devices would NOT be getting the anything higher than Ice Cream Sandwich, and even that update is far and few leaving even more Moto lovers stuck on Gingerbread! Such a disgrace Motorola has been when it comes to our love of Android.

Obviously this news angered customers, and had them slamming Motorola with so much steam that they put together an offer to try to “calm” the angry customers. What’s the offer? Motorola will give you a $100 “trade-in credit.” THAT’S IT?! That’s all you’re going to give your customers? Something just doesn’t seem right here. I would think Motorola would want to keep and gain customers; not lose them!

Motorola has released the final offer, and it’s a lot more distasteful then we originally thought. I’m sorry for those of you who love Motorola, but maybe this is your sign to change?

Then to top it off, you must have “eligible devices” in order to be considered for the program.  Really? So, what are they? The list is:

  • Droid 3
  • Droid X2
  • Admiral
  • Atrix 2
  • Atrix 4 G
  • Cliq2
  • Electrify
  • Photon 4G
  • XPRT
  • Titanium
  • Triumph

So you got one of those devices, guess what, you get $100!! Yay!! Best part? It’s a rebate. Yeah, you know those lovely rebates you send in the mail, and it takes FOREVER to get back a check? No, No, I’m kidding Motorola is a bit classier and provides customers with a “rebate card.”

However, if you’re a Verizon user, you simply go into the store and get a new device with no discount price, and in turn Verizon gives you a $100 Verizon Gift card. WHAT A FANTASTIC DEAL!! What good does that do? Well, according to them, you can pay for your accessories or even your monthly bill! Not sure how will that will roll over Verizon, but good luck.

The rest? You simply get your new phone, bag up your old one, send it to Motorola with “proof” you bought a new Motorola device, and in 6-8 weeks you receive a $100 Visa gift card. It sounds great doesn’t it? Don’t be fooled people, THIS IS NOT A GOOD DEAL! I’m sure half of you paid more for the device depending how adamant you were on having it.

I’d say $100 and YOU KEEP THE OLD PHONE! There should be no reason you have to send them the old one, because then really what are you gaining? Not to mention if your with Verizon, you can’t spend the $100 how you truly want, but on Verizon’s terms. Doesn’t seem fair at all.

Anyone else sick to the stomach with such poor treatment from Motorola? I hope that Motorola wises up, and changes their tune, or they be at the bottom of the list instead of HTC.
