This morning, Archos announced a few more tablets you might never buy. They introduced four new tablets that are being dubbed as the Titanium line. And no, that name doesn’t refer to the materials used to create these devices. All four of these have the same spec’s more or less except for the screen size. Here’s the spec list:
- Display: Archos 70 Titanium (7-inch), Archos 80 Titanium (8-inch), Archos 101 Titanium (10.1-inch), Archos 97 Titanium HD (9.7-inch with 2048×1536 resolution) all are IPS HD Displays
- Dual-core 1.6GHz processors
- Android 4.1 – Jelly Bean
Their press release didn’t give much information about the rest of the specs, but they do look to be some rather good looking devices with some okay-ish looking specs. The Archos 70 Titanium will go on sale for $119, the Archos 80 Titanium will be $169, the Archos 101 Titanium for $199 and the Archos 97 Titanium HD will cost you about $249. And at this time there’s no word on release dates yet. But I’d expect to see them in February or March.
This new Titanium line from Archos was created to offer high-end specs at an aggressive price point. And it certainly looks like they are doing well at achieving that. A dual-core processor isn’t the fastest, but it won’t be a slouch either. It’ll be interesting to see what the rest of the specs are. But where else can you find a 10-inch tablet for under $200? Google hasn’t even done that….yet.
Most of you are probably not to familiar with Archos, but they seem to like to put out tons of tablets that are very cheap. And while the specs aren’t usually the best, they aren’t anything to sneeze at. Even on their Titanium Line that was just announced, they have Android 4.1. Which is fairly new, but it’s not the newest version of Android. It’s always great to see another tablet manufacturer around, but I hope they can actually compete with the likes of Samsung, ASUS, Motorola, and the others. Then the tablet game will really start to heat up.
What do you think of these new Titanium tablets from Archos? Will they be coming home with you? Let us know in the comments below.
