Leak: ASUS ME301T 10-inch Jelly Bean, Tegra 3 Tablet

It wouldn’t be 2013 without ASUS having a few new and great tablets on their way to the market. Last year they launched the Transformer Pad TF300, Transformer Pad Infinity TF700, Nexus 7, and the Padfone 2. All of which sold very well, even though the Padfone 2 never made it to the US. We’ve already seen a ton of leaks of a $99 ASUS tablet that might be making an appearance in Las Vegas next week, there’s now a new leak showing off a 10-inch Tegra 3 tablet with Android 4.1.

You may remember that the Nexus 7 was also listed as the ME370T and their new budget friendly rumored and leaked tablet is the ME172V currently. And now today, we have a brand new model. the ME301T. It is packing some great looking specs for a 10-inch tablet, even though the Tegra 3 is about to be out-of-date when NVIDIA announces the Tegra 4 chip, which will probably be announced at CES or Mobile World Congress. According to the image below the ME301T sports these specs:

  • 10-inch 1280×800 HD Display
  • 16GB of storage
  • 1GB of RAM
  • Quad-core Tegra 3 processor
  • Android 4.1 – Jelly Bean

So it definitely isn’t a refresh of the Nexus 7, since it’s not running the latest version of Android. But it’s still packing some rather nice specs. Although it is a bit surprising that it’s running just 1GB of RAM, when most of the newer devices are coming out with 2GB of RAM, even the new Nexus 4 and Nexus 10 from LG and Samsung respectively. The ME301T is rumored to arrive on February 10 in White, Blue and Fuchsia color options, so I’d definitely expect ASUS to announce it during CES if they plan to have it available in early February.

The leak above shows the device being priced at â‚¬308 which works out to be around $499, which ASUS of all people should know that’s to much for a tablet. It needs to be in the $200-300 price range with these kind of specs, they are almost identical to the Nexus 7 except for the screen size. Anyway, I’d expect to see this device in Las Vegas next week, and it should work out to be a nice looking device. ASUS has always done well in the tablet market, and I’d expect nothing less from them in 2013.

Who’s looking forward to the ME301T? Let us know in the comments what you think.
