The HTC M7, although I’m sure that’s just a codename, is looking to be a very good looking and highly spec’d device from HTC. There was even a rumor yesterday of HTC unveiling it at CES. That I don’t think is true, since HTC isn’t having a press event. But it would be great for them to announce it in Vegas and get the spotlight. But the HTC M7 is supposedly going to be a 4.7-inch 1080p device and now we have even more specifics on the device.
According to the source, the M7 will feature an all-black design and use materials similar to what was used in the HTC Droid DNA. The amazing 1080p display should also be surrounded by a “very nice looking beveled edge”. This could also have capacitive buttons instead of on screen buttons.
The rumors say that the M7 is still running Android 4.1.2 and is still in development. But there are some hopes to get Android 4.2 – Jelly Bean on board before an unveiling or launch of the device. There’s also talk of the HTC M7 to be the first HTC device with Sense 5.0, with a revamped user interface that’s described as “simple and clean”. The source also points to appreciable changes to the lockscreen, HTC’s bundled apps, and the new on-screen elements like volume controls.
It’s still a big possibility that we’ll see this device from HTC come out in Q1 of this year. Which would mean HTC will have to announce it at CES next week, or Mobile World Congress in February, unless they’ve decided to hold their own event like Samsung and many others are doing now with their flagship devices. Hopefully HTC will launch this shortly after the announcement and not wait months and months for everyone to forget about it.
The HTC M7 is looking like a pretty interesting successor to the HTC One X. The only thing I hope HTC has learned from the One X, is to put it on every carrier in the US! The One X was a great device, but it was crippled in the US since it was only available on AT&T. I hope HTC is listening and will throw this device at every carrier, then they can gain some ground in the market again.
Who’s looking forward to the HTC M7? I know I am. Let us know in the comments what your thoughts are on this device.
