No Sign of the ASUS Memo Pad 10 at CES but it is on YouTube

Everyone expected ASUS to show off their new MeMO Pad 10 at CES 2013, but there was no sign of the device anywhere on the show floor or in press events by the company last week in Las Vegas. Today though, we have found on YouTube an unboxing video and review for your pleasure.

The MeMO Pad 10 was leaked originally by Android Headlines and now we see it in the flesh. The 10-inch tablet will feature Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, a slightly aged quad-core Tegra 3 processor, 16 GB of internal storage which will be expandable, and 1GB of RAM. The MeMO Pad 10 has a 10.1-inch IPS LCD screen with resolution of 1280 by 800 pixels. There will also be both front and rear facing cameras on the unit, the former being a 5MP with auto-focus and the latter will have 1.2 MP and be just good enough for those Skype calls home to Mom. As for the aesthetics, the unit will weigh in at 580 grams and be 10.5mm thick with an HDMI connection for throwing those videos up to the big screen. The unit will come in a blue/gray color as well one in white and a pink option.

All-in-all it seems we are looking forward to a mid-range tablet with this release from ASUS. This tablet is akin to the MeMo Pad 7 which is a 7-inch budget tablet offering from ASUS that comes in about the same color schemes, but to be honest the 10-inch version does look to be a much more well designed piece of gadgetry than its 7-inch counter-part.

ASUS does continue to put together solid tablets and between this 10-inch offering and its little brother this may just be one for the masses. It looks like the manufacturer is taking an approach towards the everyman on this line and this one could be a big seller when we finally see it on the shelves at Staples and Office Depot.

We are still waiting for an official word on when exactly the tablet will make its way into the hands of the public. It may just make a showing a Mobile World Congress which is coming up in February in Barcelona, Spain. When it does show its face, word is that the unit will retail for about $399US.
