If the Galaxy S IV was highly anticipated then it stands to reason that so too, is the Galaxy Note III. It’s pretty strange to think of people getting excited about a phone that they know nothing about but, just as Apple has done for years, now Samsung command an overwhelming brand presence when it comes to smartphones. The Note III is more than likely going to be released in fall of this year, there’s nothing to suggest that Samsung are going to move away from their usual release pattern, and it might be unveiled at IFA again.
What might seem a little strange however, is the word that this latest Galaxy Note might well feature a new type of OLED Display that will be made out of plastic, instead of the usual glass substrate. This might seem strange but, this would give Samsung even more room to pack in a higher capacity battery, something the Note line is not short of but, using a Plastic OLED display would leave more room than a traditional OLED panel.
We’ve heard rumors before about Samsung taking a new direction with the Note III and it was thought that could mean the use of flexible displays but, it seems still too early for that sort of tech. SamMobile are also reporting that a Plastic OLED Display would be a lot lighter, delivering an overall lighter smartphone in the Note III. Of course, this is just another rumor and Samsung could be up to anything but, the Note line could do with something to really set itself apart. With more and more devices getting larger, Samsung will have to do something more than just produce yet another large-screened device.
Those that aren’t keen on the PenTile pixel arrangement in older Samsung smartphones will be glad to hear that this plastic OLED might feature the RGB stripe arrangement. Does the Note need to be something different to stay ahead this year or, can Samsung produce something very similar to the Note II, as they did with the Galaxy S, and still have a successful device?
