LG's Optimus G Pro Hitting AT&T Store Shelves Next Month To Compete with the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S4

It appears that the newly – not so newly – announced LG Optimus G Pro is going to be hitting AT&T store shelves in May. At least according to Android Central. The US will be getting the 5.5-inch version of the Optimus G Pro, while our Korean friends have the 5-inch version. Android Central is citing a source that’s familiar with launch plans for the device in this case. They are also stating that the expected launch date is May 10th. Of course, it’s an unannounced launch date so it could change. Their source also didn’t confirm if the LG Optimus G Pro would be an AT&T exclusive or if it would be heading to other carriers in the US.

This launch would put the LG Optimus G Pro right in competition of the Galaxy Note 2 in terms of size, and the Galaxy S4 in terms of specs. Both of which are in need of some quality competition, so can LG be the one to compete with Samsung? The Optimus G Pro was announced shortly before Mobile World Congress back in February. It has some pretty decent specs as well:

  • 5.5-inch Full HD Display (1920×1080 resolution)
  • 1.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor
  • 2GB or DDR RAM
  • 32GB internal storage; Expandable via microSD card slot
  • 13MP rear-facing camera; 2.1MP front-facing camera
  • 3,140mAh battery
  • Android 4.1.2 – Jelly Bean
  • 150.2×76.1×9.4mm dimensions

As you can see the specs are right on par to compete with the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the HTC One. Although the Optimus G Pro has a larger battery than both of those devices. It’s also featuring the Snapdragon 600 processor which is a beast. Those of you looking for a device with a microSD card slot, you’ll want to definitely take a look at this one.

How many of you are excited about picking up the Optimus G Pro for AT&T? Well remember this should be treated as a rumor. So take this with a grain of salt as usual.
