Could This Picture Have Been Taken With the Galaxy S 4 Zoom?

We’ve been hearing quite a bit about an upcoming smartphone from Samsung that will feature some serious photographic power, and not just at the sensor level. Apparently, Samsung will be releasing another variant of the Galaxy S 4, called the Zoom, which will feature a 10x Optical Zoom lens and come with a much larger sensor compared to those in current smartphones. Of course, squeezing all this into a smartphone is going to have an effect on the overall spec of the device and it’s said that the Zoom is to pack just a 4.3-inch qHD sAMOLED display in it, as opposed to the 1080p 5-inch display in the S 4.

Rumors are, of course, rumors without any concrete proof. Well, for once we might have a little bit of proof to go along with this rumor. Above is what could well be a sample image taken with the Galaxy S 4 Zoom. You’ll notice that the photo was taken with Snapseed, indicating this device to run Android. The sample was uploaded at 1920 x 1080 so there’s unfortunately no hint as to what the sensor on this device could be.

The model number listed is the SM-C101, which is close to the SM-C1010 that we had heard last week, so this does look a little more than a coincidence. What really makes us think that this could well be a sample image however, is the photographer himself. A Mr Shahriar Hossain, who is curiously enough an employee of Samsung Electronics. There’s a chance that this could be the second-generation Galaxy Camera as well, we’ve been hearing conflicting reports concerning just what this device is. One thing’s certain though; whatever this thing is, it takes photos.

Samsung seem to be readying a number of smartphones that look aim to take on both Sony and HTC. If the Galaxy S 4 Activ is to be a rugged smartphone that’s dust proof and waterproof, it’ll go up against the Xperia Z and the Xperia ZR. As for this Galaxy S 4 Zoom, if it is a smartphone it’ll take on HTC’s Ultrapixels head on.
