HTC Released an Aluminum Phone, Now They're "Getting The Lead Out" With Renewed Vigor in The Update Cycle

Android Headlines featured a story just yesterday about HTC needing to produce timely updates, should they in-fact be “all-in” with their latest lines of mobile devices. Well, it looks as if they may be doing just that, and we have a couple of cases to prove it.

The first case-in-point being one that we don’t know just a whole lot about, but it seems that there is already an update to the HTC One of the United States that has been sent to carriers for approval. This update is said to give users of the just released HTC One in the United States improved battery life and performance, as well as contain audio tweaks and camera fixes. This may not be something that just blows everyone away, but it does seem to point to a renewed vigor in HTC’s update cycle. For this HTC gets our nod of approval.

Secondly, and something that really makes us think that HTC is getting on-the-ball with their update schedule, is that XDA developer Zarboz has made available via XDA-Developers forum, a system dump of Sense 5.1 and Android 4.2.2 for the HTC Butterfly. For those of you that don’t know, the HTC Butterfly is the Verizon Droid DNA’s International twin.

Other than showing HTC’s renewed vigor, developers are also hoping to get ports of this dump out to U.S. versions of the HTC One that might belong to carriers that are not as motivated to get updates out so quickly. Also, we should be seeing a port to the Droid DNA very soon that has been built from this dump. Of course all of this also means that updates to Android 4.2.2 and Sense 5.1(for the Droid DNA) should be available through official channels very soon with the HTC One being up to date slightly sooner than other HTC top tiered devices.

Ok, so if you are a Droid DNA or HTC Butterfly user and this hasn’t excited you quite enough, here is the video that proves that it exists to get you pumped. If the video doesn’t get you pumped, well there’s also some great music to go along with the view:

What do you think about HTC’s new lease on life? Does this make you think that they might still be a player in the mobile world for at least a while longer? Let us know by joining in on the conversation on the Android Headlines Google+ page, or leave us a shout-out in the comments section below.
