There’s been a round of Motorola devices passing through the FCC lately. Just before Google I/O last week, the AT&T variant of this mysterious Motorola device visited the FCC as XT1058. Then we saw a leak from the drivers for that device that there is a XT1060 for either Verizon or Sprint, since it’s a CDMA device. Now we are seeing the XT1056 passing through the FCC for Sprint. Which would mean the XT1060 is for Verizon.
Now we think this is the X phone, but whatever Motorola phone it is I hope it’s a good one since it looks like it’s coming to most if not all the US carriers. So what are we looking at here? Well it appears the XT1056 is going to have NFC, Bluetooth 4.0 LE+EDR and 802.11ac for Wi-Fi. It has support for Sprint’s LTE and 3G network of course, it’s also certified for HSPA+ 21mbps on the 2100, 1900, and 850 MHz bands. But the documentation specifically states that it’ll be SIM-locked for all US carriers.
So it’s looking somewhat good for Motorola. Especially after Google I/O brought us no new hardware. The Galaxy S4 Google Edition isn’t “new” hardware because the Galaxy S4 has been out for about a month already. Now all we really have to wait for is the official announcement from Motorola. I really hope that they announce their devices soon, they need to get something new out there on the market.
