New Samsung Galaxy Camera Could Be Coming Soon

A new Samsung Galaxy Camera could be on the way. The Bluetooth Certification website has revealed that a device with the name EK-GN100 has received Bluetooth certification, and sources have also revealed the EK-GN100 is the new Samsung Galaxy Camera (maybe even the much rumored Samsung Galaxy Camera S4).

Apart from that it’s received Bluetooth certification, there really isn’t anything new to report, except perhaps that the device could enter the market quite soon in true Samsung fashion, and with an event in London approaching it would be the appropriate platform to launch such a product. The device would probably come with all of Samsung’s latest ‘S-‘ range of software that comes packed in TouchWiz, much like what we see in the S4, and possibly the S4 Active.

The original Samsung Galaxy Camera was launched last year with a relatively big marketing budget as a flagship product, and it was launched in line around the same time as other flagship products such as the Samsung Galaxy S III line and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 line. The camera is still on the market, available through Verizon or AT&T in the United States on a contract, and also $449.99 for a WiFi-only model.

The camera received a very mixed reception from users, developers and photographers alike – and recent speculation points that the latest camera may very well be a full Android phone, with all the important features of a flagship device such as the Samsung Galaxy S4, just with much better zooming camera, and all the features you’d expect with a phone like SMS and voice call support, which might sound great but could prove to have a really mixed reception like it’s predecessor, which while not a very good device sparked great debate across the Android community about Samsung’s market strategy, and also general debate about the future of the point-and-shoot market, particularly about how hybrid devices like the Samsung Galaxy Camera could be the future for that market.

Now that a new Galaxy Camera could be near, would you purchase one? Let us know in the comments!
