Best Buy Ad Confirms Price and Display Resolution of New Nexus 7

We already know pretty much everything there is to know about the new Nexus 7, how it looks, what’s inside of it, what version of Android will be on it, pretty much everything. Now, we’re getting more confirmation on some of those things coming from a Best Buy ad.

The ad mentions a 1920 x 1200 display, 16 GB of storage and promotes GMail, Google Maps and YouTube – like any “Google tablet” should – but there are two more things we know from this ad, first is the price, the new Nexus 7 will be just $229 which is pretty damn cheap, it was cheap if we were talking about the old Nexus 7, but for the new one? The second thing, is the name, many people thought it would be called Nexus 7.2, or Nexus 7 2, but no Google has decided to keep the naming as Nexus 7, and probably differentiate them by generation, just like I said a few days ago.

The fact that the new Nexus 7 will be available at Best Buy probably at launch, means that you can try to order it from the Play Store, but if that gives you trouble, like it probably will if we look in the history books, you can just walk into a Best Buy and pick one up, I don’t think there will be any stock issues and Google could well have learned its lesson by now.

Obviously, when the ad says “Available Tuesday” it’s not talking about this next Tuesday, that just wouldn’t make sense, the ad is probably talking about the 30th which just happens to be less than a week after Google’s event hosted on the 24th by Sundar Pichai, which could be all about Android and Chrome, most likely introducing Android 4.3, the new Nexus 7 and maybe something else. Maybe they could talk about some deeper integration between Android and Chrome, which has long been on the cards.

So that’s it, there’s nothing more to leak, no more secrets, we just need the official introduction and an indication to when and where we can start throwing our money.
