While we wait for the Moto X to arrive, Motorola is trying to keep it’s current customers happy and has now started to send emails regarding a soak test for an upcoming update to the Droid RAZR HD and the RAZR MAXX HD, both on Verizon.
We’re not sure exactly what the soak test is about, but considering that those devices are currently running Android 4.1.2, the only logical conclusion is that the 4.2 update is being prepared.
Here’s the mail that Motorola sent out:

Since Motorola is now “a Google company” they’ve been trying to improve the way they handle their devices, not only with better and faster updates but with a much improved skin on top. Everyone hated Blur back in the day, but Motorola’s current skin is one of the closest to stock with a few additions welcomed by the majority.
Both devices (which are basically the same) are the best devices Motorola has right now on shelves, and they’re around 10 months old already. After the release of these phones and the Razr M, Motorola has stopped releasing devices, probably due to restructuring of the company in preparation for the new Moto X and hopefully, a whole new way of doing business.
Motorola has fallen almost to the point of disappearing in the last few years with devices that weren’t usually well received and survived solely as a Verizon provider for the Droid brand. Hopefully Google can turn this around and give back the life a company with a history like Motorola deserves. Hopefully, this means an update is on its way to hit devices by the end of the summer.
