The next evolution in DROID is available today from Verizon. Two members of the 2013 DROID family are available from Verizon today, that’s the DROID Maxx and DROID Ultra costing $299 and $199 on a new 2-year contract respectively. Both phones are relatively the same. Except of course the DROID Maxx has an insane battery inside, which Motorola is promising 48 hours of battery life. That alone is a good enough reason to pay $300 for a phone on contract.
The Motorola DROID Ultra and DROID Maxx are Verizon and Motorola’s flagships. Of course, Motorola is spending all their money on the Moto X which is hitting store shelves on Friday. Additionally there’s the DROID Mini which is slated for August 29th. The DROID Ultra and DROID Maxx feature all the features of the Moto X, plus more. Like DROID Zap and the DROID Command Center. The specs are relatively the same as the Moto X, except for the battery size and the 5-inch display instead of 4.7. It’s still a 720p AMOLED display on these DROIDs, which is because of the Active display feature. Which is better with AMOLED displays than LCD, since AMOLED lights up each pixel individually so the Active display only lights up the pixels it needs instead of the entire screen.
We haven’t gotten our hands on the DROID Ultra or DROID Maxx just yet. But we should be getting to play with them very soon, and as always you can expect lots of coverage of the DROID family from your trusted Android source, Android Headlines. If you’re waiting to pick up the DROID Ultra or DROID Maxx until we publish our reviews, then you’ll be waiting a bit longer. But from what we’ve been told, both devices are great.
