HTC had already told us that we would see Android 4.3 by the end of September in the US on all the One variants and the DROID DNA as well. This means that it is indeed skipping Android 4.2. There are five different HTC One variants for the US. The T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon, Sprint and Developer/Unlocked model.
On Monday, one of HTC’s insiders @LlabTooFer told us on Twitter that the US versions of the HTC One would see the Android 4.3 update with Sense 5 very soon. He went on to say that once that happens we’ll see the International Versions get Android 4.3 with Sense 5.5 Update. @LlabTooFer also told us that after the HTC One Max gets announced and released, the HTC Ones and Butterfly S and the One Mini will see the Sense 5.5 and Android 4.3 update. Which tells us that the HTC One Max is coming really soon. This insider did mention two phones that will not get the update. That’s the HTC One S and HTC EVO LTE on Sprint.
We have reason to believe this “insider” because he brokenews earlier this summer about the One Mini and the One Google Play Edition and of course those turned out to be true. So he has a pretty good track record. So far there isn’t much about the Sense 5.5 update, but I’m sure there’s a bunch of bug fixes, probably some more additions to HTC Zoe, and possibly some new widgets? I for one, am very happy with Sense 5. I’ve actually always been a Sense fan, but Sense 5 is just so lightweight and easy to use. Unlike Samsung’s Touchwiz which is pretty heavy, and is still using some Gingerbread resources, which bogs down your device resulting in Lag.
So looks like updates are coming soon. HTC One Max, aka the T6 is also coming soon. We’ll have to keep our eye out and see when these updates hit. Of course we’ll keep you updated, and be sure to check out Tom’s OTA roundup each week. As we post all the updates from the hundreds (maybe thousands) of devices around the world getting updates each week in one easy to read and find post. How many of you are anxious for this update?
