Motorola and LG have put out some really great devices in the past month or so. Motorola has 4 devices now available. The Moto X, DROID Ultra, Mini and Maxx. Of course the DROID Ultra, Mini and Maxx are Verizon exclusives, and they are not doing a GSM version of them this year. LG has also put out the G2, which is an amazing phone. We’ve already reviewed both phones, and I actually like them both very much, but for different reasons. As we do in every phone war, we’re putting both of these phones up against each other. We’ll talk about hardware and software, and even compare the specs of each one. Then find out which one is the one you should buy. Since the DROID Ultra si only on Verizon, we will be comparing the Verizon G2 to it.
Specifications
LG G2
The LG G2 is really special. LG took some real chances with the LG G2. For starters they moved the power and volume buttons around to the back of the device. They also gave it super thin bezels, which we’ve really never seen before. Sure we’ve seen thin bezels, but not like this. There’s also the 13MP camera with OIS which is just amazing, and I’ve said this a few times already, it’s the best camera on a smartphone right now.
As far as software goes, this one’s a little tricky. Why? Well LG’s skin seems to be a bit everywhere. I like where they are going, but they still have some work to do on the Optimus UI. Personally, I don’t like the colors they use in the status bar, but that’s still pretty minor. Then again, all the toggles in the notification bar isn’t. There are plenty of useful features on the G2, so if you can get past the “ugly UI” as many have called it, you should be okay.

Motorola DROID Ultra
I just reviewed the DROID Ultra this past weekend, and I was quite impressed with it. As far as the hardware goes, the DROID Ultra is made out of plastic, the glossy plastic. On the front there’s the 5-inch 720p AMOLED display and capacitive buttons. The volume and power buttons are still on the side as well.
For software, Motorola has stuck with basically stock Android and a few customizations. They also added in a few features which most people think aren’t that big of a deal, but once you start using them you’ll love them. Those include Active Display and Touchless Control. Instead of adding hundreds of features, Motorola added just a couple and did them well. Motorola also took some chances on the DROID Ultra by having a 720p display in a world where everything has a 1080p display or better.

The Winner Is….
This one is a tough one. If it were up to me I’d grab the DROID Ultra, why? Because it’s stock Android, thus it should get updates quicker. And man is Active Display awesome or what? Like I said this is a tough one because both phones are great in their own right. You’re best bet is to go into Verizon and check both of them out and see which one you like better.
