New OPPO N1 Teaser Video Shows Us the Outline of the 5.9-inch Smartphone

The OPPO N1 is a highly anticipated Chinese smartphone that falls squarely into the large-screen device category. I hate the word “phablet” and refuse to use it, but the N1 would fit right in with the LG Optimus G Pro and the upcoming Galaxy Note 3. It is going to have a 5.9-inch display, so it’s actually going to be slightly larger than its competitors. We don’t yet know the display resolution or any other solid details about the N1. It is rumored to have a 1080p resolution screen and a 12 megapixel rear-facing camera, but none of the specs have been announced by OPPO yet. The company is saying that the device will be a “large screen smartphone with an amazing camera.” We do know that it will come with a massive 3,500 mAH battery.

OPPO is teasing us with a short videos about the N1, releasing them on their website and on YouTube. The teaser videos are just that, teasers. They don’t tell us much of anything. The latest video shows us what we assume will be the outline of the N1. This video is the fourth that OPPO has rolled out, leading up to the N1 announcement on September 23rd. They should be releasing another video in 3 days which may or may not give us any more information about the flagship phone.

OPPO has also confirmed the rumors about the display size. It will indeed have a 5.9-inch display, but the 1080p resolution remains unconfirmed. With a screen this big and rumors of the smartphone being high-end, we can’t imagine that OPPO would make this phone with anything less than a 1080p screen. The Chinese company has also mentioned a rear touch panel on the N1 and talked about the handset having a “brand new user experience.” Google filed a patent in the U.S. for rear touch panel controls on a smartphone back in March of this year. They haven’t produced a phone with the capability, but they are for sure testing out ways to implement back-panel touch controls. OPPO may beat them to the punch with this technology. We’ll know more on the 23rd.
