Samsung is continuing to “release all the things”. We’ve already heard that there will be a Galaxy Note 3 with a LCD display heading to emerging markets in November. Now we are hearing that Samsung is working on a limited edition Galaxy Note 3 that will have a flexible display. This report is making it’s way out of the Korean media and is suggesting it could launch before the LCD model. It’s also being reported that this model will be available in limited quantities, something that we should already expect since it’s a ‘Limited Edition’ and the fact that flexible displays are in limited quantities already.
Both and Samsung and LG are rumored to be fighting it out to become the first manufacturer to launch a smartphone with a flexible display. LG was supposedly going to toss a flexible display into the Vu 3 that was announced earlier today. But it turned out not to have a flexible display. Which means the competition between these two is going to get even tougher.
This report also lines up with previous rumors of Samsung launching 3 different variants of the Galaxy Note 3, and the fact that Samsung was rumored to bring a flexible display to market in November, Samsung has also started a competition to ask third-parties to submit business ideas for flexible displays. It’s going to be an interesting lead up to the first flexible display device. Hopefully the first one isn’t a dud though.
So we’ve got the AMOLED, LCD and now Flexible OLED variants of the Galaxy Note 3 coming. While only the AMOLED display is confirmed, these other two line up almost perfectly with rumors and the LCD version has been rumored for months. As far back as the Galaxy S4 launch back in March. But who really wants a flexible display? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
