Nexus 5 Embargo Lifts on October 25th, According to Amazon Reviewer

If there’s one term that’s pretty popular in this industry, at least among us the journalists, it’s the word “embargo” and “NDA”. Now I’ve been under a few embargo’s and NDA’s in the past few months, but nothing for the Nexus 5. And as far as I know, none of our staff is under an Embargo for the Nexus 5, so we can actually write about this.

The Nexus 5 is the hottest topic right now, at least when you talk about unannounced phones and tablets. We’ve heard so many announcement dates, that’s it’s easier to say which days aren’t rumored as the announcement. The Nexus 5 is close, really close. It should be announced within the next couple of weeks. Over the weekend, an Amazon product reviewer left a review on a listing for a Nexus 5 case, and basically said that she had 6 more days left until the embargo had lifted, and that she’d then be able to write about the phone. Well, technically, she shouldn’t have even said that. That actually violates the Embargo as well. And of course, you’ve got plenty of tech siteswriting about it now, so Google or LG will definitely see it. But the point of this post isn’t to get this reviewer in trouble.

We know there’s a Google Play event on Thursday, October 24th, but it seems to be a pretty boring event. As it’s been said that there is no hardware being announced at this event, and that there’s pretty much no news coming from this event. But according to this reviewer the Embargo lifts the very next day. So perhaps the Nexus 5 will be announced on October 24th? Often times, some tech publications will get review units before the device is announced. And usually there is an embargo until the announcement date, then you’ll normally see a ton of reviews all publish at the same time. That’s what happened with the Kindle Fire HDX’s from Amazon earlier this month.

This still doesn’t tell us much, but hopefully it’s true, that the device will be announced next week. Now we’ve learned our lesson about rumors. So we are taking it with a grain of salt, but we will still pay attention to their event on Thursday, in case something does happen. In which case you can stay tuned to Android Headlines for more.
