Finally, the long wait is over – Sprint just announced the availability of the HTC One Max (or HTC One max, if you want to get technical) on their network for $249.99, or if you come over from another carrier and port your number to Sprint, you can get an additional $100 off, knocking your final price to a more reasonable $149.99. If you don’t like to commit yourself to a two-year contract, it will cost you a cool, but reasonable price for a smartphone with these specs, $599.99. With a 5.9-inch display this definitely falls into the phablet range, so if you haven’t already grabbed the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, you may want to give the HTC One Max a look, especially at $149.99. You can click on the image below and jump straight to Sprint’s website and place your order, which indicates you can order it online and then pick up your HTC One Max at the store.
HTC had revealed the HTC One Max to us long ago and we knew it was headed to Sprint for a November launch when one was spotted with its logo on the device. Based on the popular HTC One, it truly looks identical except for its enormous size and the addition of both a fingerprint scanner on the back, as well as a microSD card, allowing you to finally increase the internal memory up from 32GB.
The HTC One series is a beautiful design, but the launch of the HTC One, HTC One Mini, and now the HTC One Max has spanned such a range of time, interest seems to be fading – HTC should have struck while the iron was hot and released these devices at a much closer interval. Although decent specifications, the HTC One Max is a little “old” before its time with last year’s Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor running at 1.7GHz, when the flagships today easily have the Snapdragon 800 running at 2.3GHz. It does have 2GB of RAM which is good, and a Full HD Display at 1920x1080p resolution. The battery is a hefty 3,300mAh, although not removable.
It will be interesting how the HTC One Max sells because of its size and specifications – let us know in the comments or on Google+ if you will be headed out to Sprint and picking up your HTC One Max.
