Moto G Making it's Way to Verizon Prepaid in 2014

This morning, Motorola announced the Moto G. Which is a pretty cheap yet high-end device. It’s going on sale for $179 for the 8GB model and $199 for the 16GB. Which that’s an unlocked price. That’s pretty crazy. The Moto G is also sporting a 4.5-inch 720p display, with a Snapdragon 400 and a 5MP camera. However it doesn’t support LTE connectivity, which is a bit of a downer for those of us in the US and other places where LTE is pretty popular.

On Wednesday, Verizon announced via Twitter “Stay Tuned: Moto G with 4.5-inch edge-to-edge display coming to Verizon, Available on prepaid in early Q1 2014”. This is going to be a great device on prepaid, if not the best device on prepaid, especially for the price.

When Motorola announced the Moto G this morning, they did take some stabs at the competition. Especially Samsung and Apple with their low-cost phones. Specifically the Galaxy Fame and the iPhone 4. Which Motorola believes the Moto G is much better than both of those phones. And I’d have to agree, although I have not used any of those phones so I can’t say for sure. But on paper the Moto G seems to be the best sub-$200 phone out there.

With the Nexus 5 being $350 and the now the Moto G being under $200, I’m definitely liking how these phone prices are going now. Typically it costs manufacturers less than $200 to make a phone, but then they sell it to you or the carriers for close to $600-700. That’s a pretty huge profit. Now if they sell it for about $300, I think they’d sell a ton more, maybe the profit might take a hit, but you’d be selling a boatload, and give users another reason to upgrade to the latest handset every year.

So Moto G coming to Verizon prepaid next year. Is anyone interested in this one? Let us know in the comments below.
