Incredibly Affordable Moto G Could be Coming to Verizon Soon

When Motorola announced the Moto G, we knew that the device was going to be a budget offering and feature some pretty decent specs considering. However, what we didn’t expect is just how affordable Motorola’s latest device would be. Coming in at just $179, the Moto G is easily the best value for money there is when it comes to Android smartphones, perhaps second only to the Nexus 5. No matter what though, for $180, you’re getting a lot of phone for not a lot of money and that’s unlocked. Allowing you to go to any carrier or MVNO you like. That’s great and all but, what if you’re on Verizon, or you want to be on Verizon but you don’t need or want to spend the money on a Galaxy S4 or HTC One? Well, according to the infamous @evleaks you might be able to get the Moto G on Verizon very soon, as we already knew.

According to the leakster, the Moto G coming to Verizon prepaid, which would be great news for Verizon customers and of course, Motorola. Budget offerings like these aren’t too exciting but, unlike the Galaxy S4 Mini and S III Mini which recently launched earlier this year, the Moto G features unadulterated Android and as a result, quick software updates. An update to Android 4.4 KitKat is guaranteed by Motorola to hit the device in January, we doubt the Galaxy S4 Mini will be so lucky. Verizon is, of course, known for some of the best network coverage in the US but, that great service is hardly kind to your wallet so maybe the Moto G could present a great compromise for customers.

There’s very little to go on right now, as there so often is with leaks from @evleaks but, the image shared does include the familiar Verizon font used for the “3G” icon in the status bar. Remember, the Moto G doesn’t offer 4G connectivity, which isn’t too much of a deal breaker considering its price, and there’s an FM radio built-in for oldschool music streaming using something called “the radio”, whatever that is.
