Lenovo Announces the Vibe Z with a 5.5-inch 1080p IPS Display, 4G LTE and More!

CES isn’t quite underway yet, but Lenovo has a few smartphones they are announcing today. First up is the Vibe Z. Which actually features 4G LTE, with speeds topping out at 150mbps download and 50mbps upload. The Vibe Z is actually pretty thin as well, at just 7.9mm thin. It comes in a silver or titanium body and it weighs 147 grams. It’s got a 5.5-inch 1080p IPS wide-angle viewing touchscreen display. Images will look amazing on this device. The PPI count is over 400 on the Vibe Z. Once more, the Vibe Z is also featuring a Snapdragon 800 clocked at 2.2GHz inside. Lenovo has also packed in 2GB of RAM along with 16GB of internal storage and Android 4.3 – Jelly Bean.

For those out there wondering about the camera, Lenovo has put a 13MP camera on the back which has a f1.8 aperture lens to defy low light situations and capture breathtaking photos. There’s also a 5MP camera on the front. Which is kind of a big deal, since we normally only see around 2MP or less on the front-facing camera. Additionally, the Vibe Z also has Lenovo-specific software supporting motion and gestures for better one-handed usage on large screen devices. For those wondering, Lenovo has packed in a 3000mAh battery inside, which they say will give you around 33 hours of talk time and up to 27 days on standby.

The Vibe Z is definitely a high-end device from Lenovo. It’ll be priced at $549 unlocked, and contract-free in February in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, and the Philippines. Unfortunately there’s no word on the Vibe Z heading to Europe or North America. I’d love to see this one make its way to the US. I’m sure it’d be a big seller.
