The Find 5 went a long way towards putting Oppo on the map of quality smartphone manufacturers. They have also been teasing us with bits and pieces about the upcoming Find 7 for a while. We know that Oppo’s new flagship phone will have a 5.5-inch display with 2560 x 1440 resolution. Oppo has confirmed this for us. That means that the Find 7 will have a 538 ppi screen, which is pretty wild. More rumors are coming out of China now in the form of some leaked images on Chinese site Weibo.
The first images are of the front display panel, which is probably made by LG or JD. The panel shows us that the device will have small bezels and that it will likely have a high-resolution front facing camera, judging by the size of the hole on the front for the sensor. The display neatly frames a can of Pepsi, giving us an idea of the size of the device for comparison. Oppo seems to have a love of Pepsi.
A second set of images also popped up on Weibo, claiming to be the metal frame of the smartphone. This would mean that Oppo is going to be bringing us a high quality, metal Android device when the Find 7 finally drops. It looks like the metal frame and the front panel would fit together nicely, although that’s not based on any actual measurements. These images are still in the rumor stage but it’s likely that they are real.
Other Find 7 specs are rumored to include a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset clocked at 2.5 GHz, an Adreno 420 GPU, 3 GB of RAM, a massive 4000 mAh battery cell, and a 13-megapixel rear facing camera. If these all turn out to be true, this will be one amazing smartphone.
The Chinese handset market is just beginning to heat up and is set to explode in 2014. Oppo, Xiaomi, Huawei, and ZTE all have pretty lofty ambitions for the upcoming year. I’m of the opinion that any and all competition is a good thing for consumers. With great devices like the Find 5 , N1, and Find 7 coming our way, 2014 is going to be an exciting year.
