We had eagerly been waiting for the first phablet device to come out of the Oppo camp – the Oppo Find 7. However in the latest tidbit revealed by the Chinese manufacturer on their Indonesian fan page, we get teased about another device – the Oppo Neo.
The teaser evidences that Oppo is wanting to build devices in all size segments to have a much wider appeal. The first Oppo device to hit US shore – the Oppo Find 5 – had set the ground for the Chinese manufacturer to step foot outside its homeland and seek fans and users elsewhere. They were also the first mobile device manufacturer who had tied with the popular after-market firmware makers Cyanogenmod, to release the first CM Phone – the Oppo N1 in the US.
The teaser for the Neo states that the Oppo Neo would feature a 4.5 inch IPS LCD display, which is capable of recording touches through gloved hands as well. As of now there is no information available on other specifications for this device, though we would speculate the Oppo Neo would be a budget or mid-range device, aimed at the mass market. The teaser also provides insight that Oppo’s Quick Reach feature would be bundled along with the Oppo Neo. Quick Reach is Oppo’s take on gesture based controls using which several actions can be carried out by simple gestures.
Sadly, we do not have any information regarding the release date and availability of the device, though we would expect it to launch alongside Oppo’s newest flagship – the Oppo Find 7. However, as of now our information is limited to whatever leaks from the Oppo camp.
Let’s see, how long Oppo will keep us waiting with this teaser, and when they officially announce this device.
