T-Mobile is one of the rising stars of the U.S. mobile carriers thanks to bold moves to change the industry and even bolder actions from the companies CEO. Lots of changes have come out of the company in the past year, but perhaps more importantly to the general public have been the changes coming to T-Mobiles lineup of phones. It’s already looking to be a promising year for upcoming handsets, and T-Mobile is starting the second month of 2014 with a couple of handsets from LG. Starting on Feb. 5th, T-Mobile will be offering up the LG F3Q QWERTY touch screen smartphone, and the next evolution in smartphones, the LG G Flex.
The G Flex is the worlds first smartphone with a curved flexible display, and although we already knew that T-Mobile would be carrying the phone in the future we had no idea when to expect it to show up. We also didn’t know exactly how much the phone would cost customers out of pocket as well as the overall total spanned over the 24 months or all up front. Thanks to T-mobile’s awesome Uncarrier strategy and availability to break up the cost of the phones, the LG G Flex will end up costing qualifying customers a payment of $0 down and $28 a month for 24 months, which equals out to be $576. That’s a surprisingly low down payment for a phone like the G Flex, but we don’t think anyone will be complaining. The G Flex will perfect for those who love a good game now and then, with the giant display it serves to make the experience fairly enjoyable. Media lovers will also love it though, and not just for the big screen but also for the 6 month free membership to video streaming service, Netflix. Hows that for a deal?
As for the Optimus F3Q, as stated above it will be available for purchase the same day, but total cost will end up at the amount of $312, also with a $0 down payment for qualifying customers, and 24 monthly payments of $13. This might not be such a bad idea for the customers who like and want a smartphone but hate typing on touch screens. The Optimus F3Q isn’t stacked to the gills with the best specs, but it’s decent for the likes of the cost. It runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and comes with a 4 inch IPS TFT display and 5MP rear facing camera. The sad part about this device is that the front camera is only a VGA, which we expected to be at least a 1MP considering the price. The F3Q supports NFC, comes with a 2,460mAh battery, and is powered by Qualcomm dual-core MSM8930 processor. The RAM weighs in at 1GB, which isn’t bad considering what it was for most phones standard just a year ago. Storage wise, there’s nothing to be excited about if you like the best of the best, as you only start out with 4GB of onboard storage. However you can expand on that with a microSD card up to 32GB if you need or want more space. If either of these phones looks like it’s the phone you’ve been waiting for, all you have to do is wait a little longer till Feb. 5th, and then one or both can be yours depending on if you have a single line or a family plan.
