Samsung may have announced the Galaxy Tab 3 Lite this week but, that hasn’t stopped UK retailers discounting the original Galaxy Tab 3. In fact, UK retailer is selling the 7-inch variant of the Galaxy Tab 3 for just £119, which gets you a 1024 x 600 display resolution, a dual-core CPU and the usual Samsung hallmarks. This brings Samsung’s tablet down to the same price as the Tesco Hudl, which is a decidedly better tablet on paper. If you’re all about Samsung’s software though, you can pick one up at Very.co.uk.
Amazon’s Kindle Fire HD Line £25 Off Until Monday the 20th in the UK
For those in the UK, there’s another opportunity to get their hands on a cheap tablet this weekend. As we reported Friday, the Kindle Fire HD line is £25 off from Amazon this weekend. That gives you until Monday the 20th to pick up a Kindle tablet and save a little bit. While they’re not tricked out with Google services, they’re great tablets in their own right. Nexus Wireless Charger Now Available in Four New Countries
Google is a big fan of Wireless Charging, as you’ve probably guessed by now. As such, they sell their own wireless charger in the Play Store. This wireless charger works with the Nexus 4, 5 and the 2013 model of the Nexus 7. Now, the wireless charger is available in four new countries. Now available in Australia, India, Japan and South Korea. Prices vary depending on the region you’re in but, you can pick one up from the Play Store.
Xperia T2 Ultra and Xperia E1 Get Rumored Pricing in Europe
This week, Sony announced a couple of new handsets for those on a budget, the Xperia T2 Ultra and the Xperia E1. Both very different phones in their own rite, the Xperia E1 is likely to cost €129 to €149 in Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands, Xperia Blog have learned. As for the more impressive Xperia T2 Ultra, it’s said to retail for $399 across Europe, which isn’t that good a deal depending on your outlook but, it is good to see Sony servicing the low-end and mid-range sections of the market once again.
Bell to Launch Alcatel One Touch Idol X and One Touch Idol Mini at the End of January
Bell (and Virgin) will soon be launching Alcatel smartphones in Canada, starting with the One Touch Idol X as Mobile Syrup has learned. Featuring a 5-inch Full HD display with super-thin bezels and a powerful 1.5 Ghz quad-core CPU with 2GB of RAM, the Idol X is a powerful device and could help change opinion of Alcatel in Canada. This 5-incher could be heading to Bell for under $300 and is apparently launching around January 28th. As for the One Touch Idol Mini, we’re looking at a more budget offering, with just 512 MB of RAM a dual-core CPU and a 4.3-inch IPS display. Mobile Syrup has learned that it could be launching for less than $100 on a no-term plan. Again, the One Touch Idol Mini is coming January 28th and both handsets are running Android 4.2.2.
Xiaomi’s Hongmi Line to Expand With Hongmi 1S and Hongmi 2
The phone known as the “Red Rice” from Xiaomi is apparently about to be replaced by an upgraded Hongmi 1S. As GizChina is reporting, there’s chance of the original 799 Yuan Hongmi 1 being replaced with a new device called the Hongmi 1S. Internally, this replacement would feature MediaTek’s MT6588 quad-core chipset, that features a Mali 450 600mHz GPU. A Hongmi 2 could be on the way too, with a MediaTek MT6592 Octa-Core CPU that could retail for 999 Yuan.
Moto G to Launch in India towards the End of January
Motorola’s budget-minded Moto G could be launching in India towards the end of the month, as the Times of India is reporting. While it’s already been on sale in the UK, parts of Europe and of course the US, India has yet to be treated to the 4.3-inch handset. Featuring a quad-core Snapdragon 400 CPU, a 720p display and most of the software features found in the Moto X, the Moto G is a compelling purchase. In the US, prices start at $179 so, this could become one of the most affordable devices from a top-tier manufacturer to launch in India.
Oppo Neo is Announced for Indonesia, Budget-Minded 4.3-inch Handset
Oppo are a known brand in East Asia, and they’re bringing something more affordable to Indonesia with the Neo. At 4.3-inches, the Neo is clearly a budget option and the specs show as much. As Fonearena is reporting, the Neo features an 854 x 480 resolution, a dual-core CPU, 512MB of RAM and 5-megapixel and 2-megapixel cameras. While this is hardly the most enticing smartphone to come from Oppo, it is only going to cost 2,599,000 Indonesian Rupiah.
Zync Launches Zync Z605 6.5-inch Phablet, Costing Just RS 7,999
Affordable phablets have become extremely popular in India and Zync is not entering the market with their 6.5-inch Z605. The specs show this as a very affordable option, with a fairly poor 800 x 480 resolution, a dual-core CPU and just 512MB of RAM. While this isn’t the best phablet out there, as Fonearena have discovered it’s going to cost just RS 7,999. With even the likes of HP entering the phablet game in India, it’s clear that this is big money.
iOcean Announce Group of Full HD Octa-Core Handsets with the G8, X7s and X8
iOcean this week announced a trio of new Full HD handsets with some serious power inside of them. Starting with the iOcean G7 (pictured above) with its 6.44-inch Full HD display, Octa-Core CPU and 13-megapixel camera. Moving on with the X7S and iOcean have gone with a more traditional 5-inch Full HD display, while keeping the same MediaTek MT6592 Octa-Core CPU as well as 2GB of RAM. The same internals are used in the iOcean X8 but the screen size jumps to 5.7-inch, making it sit in the middle of the three handsets. This new trio of Full HD handsets will cost from RMB$1,399 to RMB$1,699 and should be shipping soon.
