Archos Set To Show Off Newly Unveiled Devices At Mobile World Congress

If you were wondering what’s new from Archos as of late, they just announced and unveiled some new devices that they will also be showing off at the upcoming Mobile World Congress event. If you’ll be in Barcelona for the show starting Monday, make sure to stop by the Archos space to take a look at the 80 Helium 4G tablet and the 50c Oxygen Smartphone, among other devices that they plan to show off.

As Archos states, the 80 Helium 4G tablet will cost under £299.99 making it the worlds first 4G tablet under that price tag according to Archos. Whether that is a true statement or not is not for us to decide, but a 4G tablet under that price can’t be too bad. The 80 Helium sports a 1.2 GHz quad-core A7 processor, but it only has 1GB of RAM, which might not be enough for power users. When it comes to the screen size, Archos has packed an 8-inch 1,024 x 768 IPS display into the 80 Helium, and it has 8GB of onboard storage, and a 5MP rear camera and 2MP front camera. As for what version of Android it’s running on, it will have 4.3 out of the box, with no word on updates to kit kat. The tablet does support Bluetooth 4.0, which is a plus.

The smartphone that Archos plans to show off at MWC is the 50c Oxygen which will be their new flagship device, and it comes priced at £220. It sports 5-inch IPS display with resolution at 1,280 x 720. The best thing about it to us though seems to be the MediaTek octa-core chip. The 50c oxygen will be powered by a 1.7GHz MediaTek octa-core A7 chip, which won’t necessarily beat out other octa-cores, but you can’t argue with MediaTek’s capability to offer a chip like that at a low price. The 50c just like the 80 Helium will have 1GB of RAM. Once again not the most that you could get from a smartphone but given the price it’s not bad. The 50c will have the same amount of onboard storage as the 80 Helium, and also supports Bluetooth 4.0, however it runs a slightly older version of Android coming out of the box with 4.2. The cameras weigh in at 2MP for the front, and 8MP for the back. On top of the 80 Helium and the 50c Oxygen, Archos is also set to show off two more smartphones, called the 64 Xenon which is more of a phablet with its 6.4-inch screen, and the 40b titanium which is more of a low end device it seems, carrying a 4-inch display with 800 x 480 resolution.
