ASUS Padfone Infinity Lite Gets Named In ASUS Memo

ASUS looks like it may be gearing up for the launch of a Padfone Infinity Lite. If you don’t recall, ASUS is the manufacturer of the Transformer line of tablets, as well as the Padfone. They create innovative products that are designed to allow the consumer freedom and productivity. Currently, in the US, we only see ASUS’s tablets. We have yet to actually see a Padfone in the US.

The Padfone is an interesting device that allows users to have a fully functioning phone,  and a tablet when they need it. The Padfone hasn’t had much popularity here in the states, but ASUS is working on getting the device over to the US using AT&T as a vessel. Currently, ASUS is working on getting AT&T to carry the Padfone X, but we haven’t seen the device on shelves yet.  In September, ASUS announced the Padfone Infinity. It boasts a Snapdragon 800 processor, MicroSD slot and Android 4.2. It also includes a 5-inch 1080p screen, 13-megapixel rear facing camera and a 2-megapixel front shooter. Options for storage are 16GB or 32GB.

The memo that ASUS just put up looks like it will be a Lite version of the Padfone Infinity. There weren’t many details on the actual device mentioned in the memo. The memo does state that there will only be a 32GB option for storage. Another aspect mentioned in the memo was suggested retail pricing. The memo states that the flat base for the suggested retail price was 7,000 yuan. We aren’t entirely sure what this Lite version entails. It’s possible that we might see a smaller screen, or some lower specs to keep the Lite name plausible. However, as some have come to notice, the Infinity devices have continuously had good screen quality, so it definitely seems possible that we’ll be seeing a 1080p screen on this device.

ASUS hasn’t currently announced any press events for MWC, so it is extremely unlikely that we’ll be seeing this device there. There isn’t any mention of an announcement date in the memo, so there is no concrete evidence on when we will begin to see other news on this interesting device. We are also not sure if this Padfone version will even be on sale in the US. Only time will tell with this Padfone.
