Huawei also announced two new tablets this morning in Barcelona. That’s the MediaPad M1 and the MediaPad X1. Both of which come with 4G LTE connectivity. We’ll start things out with the MediaPad M1. Which has a 8-inch 1280×800 resolution display, 1.6GHz quad-core processor, 758MB of RAM, 8GB/16GB of on-board storage, 4,800 mAh battery, Android 4.2.2 – Jelly Bean along with 4G LTE. Definitely not a high-end tablet, or even one that most of us would think about buying. But it would be nice to see KitKat on it, since it can run KitKat. It’s said to set you back about £250 which translates to $415 USD.
Now the MediaPad X1 is a bit more interesting. It’s sporting a 7-inch 1920×1200 resolution display, similar to the Nexus 7. Along with a 1.6GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, 13MP camera on the back and a 5MP front-facing shooter, 5000mAh battery and 4G LTE support. Although we don’t know what version of Android it’s running, it will probably be running Android 4.2.2 as well. So far there’s no pricing details on the Huawei MediaPad X1, but it’s said to be available in the second half of 2014. I’d expect it to be around £400 though. And I’m not too sure about it launching in the US just yet, anyways.
The MediaPad X1 is definitely more interesting, but still maybe not interesting enough to get my money. While the MediaPad M1 definitely looks like the HTC One with a larger display and a different skin on there. It’s got front-facing speakers and everything, except for the specs. That’s really the only downside.
Huawei has said they are coming to Mobile World Congress to amaze everyone again. Well I don’t know about you, but I’m not really amazed by these announcements. Just a couple of mid-range tablets, and a mid-range smartphone. How many of you are interested?
