Acer Iconia One 7 Budget Tablet Passes Through FCC

If you’re a fan of Acer products and have been needing a new tablet to fill your needs at low cost, Acer has a new tablet for you that just might fit the bill. The new Acer Iconia One 7 is their upcoming budget tablet that has just passed through the FCC this week. While it could still be a little while before we see this hit store shelves, it’s good to know in case you’ll be in the market for something that won’t cost an arm and leg. Acer already offers a tablet that sits within this range for $130, and this new tablet looks like it could sit anywhere between $99 and $149, so it could end up costing either less, or more than the recently released Acer Iconia B1-720.

This new tablet may be budget all the way when it comes to price, but based off of the specs that have come to light over the last month or so, it looks like it might offer a decent experience for anyone looking for their first tablet, or even a decent low cost back up. The display size will obviously be 7-inches, which is given away by the 7 in the tablets name, but what can’t be picked up from the name of the tablet alone is the resolution, which sits at 1,024 x 600 pixels in a TFT LCD package. The tablet comes with 16GB of storage with a microSD slot for expandable storage if needed, which is nice to see because it feels like most budget tablets come with around 8GB. It’ll be running Android 4.2 Jelly Bean unfortunately, but that’s the not the end of the world. For RAM it looks like it’ll come with 1GB, and the processor inside is a VIA WonderMedia WM8880 dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 CPU clocked at 1.5 GHz, with an ARM Mali-400MP2 GPU. The cameras on this tablet are fairly low quality, but that’s to be expected for such a low price. The rear camera is a 1.9MP, and the front facing camera is 0.3MP. You won’t be taking the best self portraits with either shooter, but we imagine that won’t be a problem. The tablet supports WiFi 802.11 n, but has absolutely no Bluetooth or GPS support. As for the battery, it sits at 3,000 mAh, so with the lower performance hardware it should easily last through the day.
