Despite the fact the LG G2 Pro is soon to be upon us, the Optimus G Pro still has a lot of life left in it. Especially when you consider that the Snapdragon 600 under the hood is still a very capable chip. Launching on just AT&T, it was clear that LG didn’t have much faith in their larger version of the Optimus G, nevertheless though they must have had enough confidence in the device as they recently announced a follow-up device. Updates have never been LG’s strong suit, but it looks as if they’re looking to turn things around as their G2 recently got Android 4.4.2 delivered on T-Mobile here in the States.
LG’s Optimus G Pro on AT&T might be the next in line to take a break with KitKat as a beta build of the software has appeared on a user’s device. In a curious case, XDA member shanmukha24 lost his IMEI number when flashing a new ROM to his device. He then sent the device in for service, and was returned a device with a beta build of Android 4.4 KitKat installed, complete with AT&T branding. The server person also told the user that the update would be heading out within the next month or so. There isn’t a working ROM of this beta just yet, but devs are working on a system dump attained by the lucky user, as such there should be some news on a ROM shortly, but with LG having finished their update to KitKat for the LG G2 an official update might not be too far away.
With Android 4.4 KitKat having been out for some time now, it’s a shame to see that LG is still taking some time with their updates. However, LG is going from Android 4.2.2 straight to KitKat, which probably has something to do with the delay and besides, I think we can all agree on a quality update with some waiting, rather than something rushed. Hopefully, Optimus G Pro users won’t have too much longer to wait when it comes to an official update from AT&T and LG.
