Various manufacturers are in the process of developing their octa core chips for use in future devices. Some use the 64-bit architecture and some still reside on the 32-bit architecture. Most of that may not matter to a large group of people though, save for the tech geeks that really love everything that has to do with processors, or tech geeks that just love everything about tech in general. One thing that can appeal to all of those groups of people though, is how well those processors may perform in the benchmark tests. Recently we saw some information about how the Nvidia Tegra k1 chipsets were performing in the benchmarks as information about their tests via AnTuTu were leaked yesterday. Today were seeing how Huawei’s octa-core chipset performs in the benchmarks, and it’s not doing too shabby against the competition.
As we can see from the AnTuTu image, the ocata core chip that was tested in the Benchmarks is powering the Huawei H300 device, which is listed as running on Android 4.4.2 Kit Kat for the OS version. The benchmark stats list the chip as an 8 core processor but the title is listed as unknown so we don’t exactly which processor this is yet. The chipset is using the ARM Mali-T624 GPU, which seems to help it perform fairly well. When compared to plethora of other chips, it actually doesn’t do too bad, coming in fourth behind the Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 CPU and of course both of Nvidia’s Tegra K1 chips, but it slides by the Snapdragon 801 which is impressive. That’s a pretty good standing coming from a company who specializes more in manufacturing device hardware than processors. The Huawei octa-core chip that we see here is listed as getting clocked at 1.3GHz.
Another leak listed on weibo shows off some of Huaweis chipsets which you can see in one of the images below, and displays what looks to be Huaweis next chip to be produced, called the Kirin 920. It’s possible that this is the processor that is being used in this Benchmark, as the Kirin 920 is listed as housing the ARM Mali-T628 GPU which is build from the T-624 that we mentioned above. It could be a completely different processor, but the GPU listing could also be a typo. Time will tell. We won’t know until this chip is released of course how well it actually performs in the realworld against all those that it beat out on the benchmarks, but on paper it seems to rank pretty high. If real world use is emulated by these benchmark stats, then Huawei seems to be doing pretty well in the chip making department.
