The LG G2 Mini is set to hit retail shelves ’round the world in just a matter of weeks. Touted as the first “compact” smartphone in LG’s G Series, the G2 Mini will be available sometime in April, despite earlier reports that it would launch in March. The phone will land first in Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries — Russia, Ukraine, etc. — with other locales in Europe, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa next in line soon after.
There’s no word on a North American release, nor did the press release contain any pricing information or exact release dates, so we’ll keep an eye out for more information in that regard.
The LG G2 Mini will come in three different variations: 3G only, 4G LTW, and Single/Dual SIM. It will also come in four color options, depending on your region: Titan Black, Lunar White, Red, and Gold. The device has a 4.7-inch qHD IPS (960 x 540) display, 2,440mAh removable battery, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of internal storage. There’s also a microSD card for those who need more storage space. The phone’s dimensions are 129.6 x 66.0 x 9.8mm and it weighs 121 grams.Interestingly enough, the LATAM LTE version will house a 1.7GHz Nvidia Quad-Core Tegra 4i chipset, while the 3g only (MSM8226) and the LTE (MSM8926) model comes with Qualcomm’s Quad-core chipset clocked at only 1.2GHz.
The LG G2 Mini will run the latest and greatest, Android 4.4 KitKat, out of the box and will also feature LG’s new Knock Code feature, which enables users to power on and unlock their device by tapping a personalized knock pattern on the device’s screen. All in all, it looks like the G2 Mini will be a pretty nice mid-range device.
