The international launch of Samsung’s latest and greatest, the Galaxy S5, is only a fortnight or so away but it looks like Samsung might be getting ready to launch the device before then. Or at least, that’s what we’re hearing from Korean media. IN what’s no doubt a reaction to the quickfire launch of the new HTC One (M8), Samsung could be getting ready to release the Galaxy S5 earlier than first expected. With pre-orders throughout much of the world already filling up, it wouldn’t surprise us if Samsung have all the pieces in place to pull the trigger.
In Samsung’s home turf of Korea, the Galaxy S5 is already available from a number of different networks. SK Telecom were the first to pull the trigger and sell the Galaxy S5 early, with networks KT and LG UPlus following suit and releasing the handset early, too. Of course, what happens in Korea doesn’t necessarily happen in the rest of the world, but Korean media is thinking that the Galaxy S5 could be released earlier throughout the west as well, but we somehow doubt that. After all, all the planning that goes into a global launch like this will more than likely be made in stone. When the device is launched is ultimately up to Samsung, but they need their partners – like the major carriers here in the US – and retailers around the world to help them sell the device. We’ve no doubt that these partners are all geared up for an April 11th release as well, which could cause them issues if Samsung wants to bring things forward.
Will Samsung bring the launch forward? Well, it’s hard to say but as there’s now less than a fortnight to go before the Galaxy S5 is available all over the world, we sincerely doubt it. There could be a few days before the release where retailers and carrier stores mess up, but this all feels like a well-orchestrated launch by Samsung, and to mess with things at this point could ruin those plans.
