Xiaomi may be the more popular up and coming brand in the Chinese market, but Meizu has a following all their own and they’re going after Xiaomi with their latest flagship device to come. Both OEMs offer some pretty decent devices at competitive costs, and the two companies seem to frequently offer devices that are in direct competition with eachother. The Meizu MX4 looks to be the newest addition to the lineup for Meizu, and it sounds to be a pretty compelling device if the specs end up being true.
The Meizu MX4 is rumored to be powered either by a new iteration of one of Samsung’s Exynos processors, or it could potentially end up with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 805. Either way it should end up being a powerful enough device to hold up against anything that a power user does with their device, especially when you factor in the rumored 3GB of RAM. Meizu’s CEO Jack Wong has said that the Meizu MX4 will come sporting a larger display, at a size of 5.5-inches and will carry a 2K resolution. This won’t be the first device rumored to come with a 2K resolution display, and it certainly won’t be the last. The MX4 is also said to get an update to a 16MP rear facing camera and a 5MP front facing camera. If it does indeed sport a 16MP rear facing camera, we wonder how well it will stack up to the camera on the back of the Galaxy S5 and other similar devices.
For those that live in the region and often look to either Xiaomi or Meizu for a new device, the MX4 is supposed to come in costing a mere 1,999 yuan which should get Xiaomi to answer back with a similar price on their next flagship if they want to compete. While the price is tentative at this point, at least we have some sort of idea on what it might cost consumers when it launches. Unfortunately for those that like the sound of the price tag, there isn’t any information on exact release dates just yet, so we’ll have to wait a little longer before know when this becomes available. It’s also important to note that these are just rumors at this point, so make sure to take this information with a grain of salt.
