Our UK readers might have a better way to get their hands on new tablets starting today, as O2 Refresh is now adding 3G-enabled tablets to the list of device’s available on the tariff for those hungry, hungry upgraders. For those unfamiliar with O2 refresh, it’s essentially a way to upgrade whenever you like, rather than getting locked into a 24, or 18-month contract and having to pay for 24, or 18-months of service. O2 Refresh charges you two separate payments, one for your device and another for your service. So, when you want to upgrade, you only have to pay the remaining amount on your hardware, with no charges for your service, making it nice and easy to upgrade on your own terms.
Many of you might already be using O2 Refresh with phones, but now they’re adding tablets to the tariff. Specifically, the Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet, Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1, Galaxy Tab 3 8.0, Nexus 7 and Asus Fonepad are all available on O2 Refresh, with more tablets – hopefully – being added to the list. Prices are pretty flexible as well, Sony’s latest will cost the most, but the Nexus 7 and Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 are good options for those not willing to spend a huge amount of money on a tablet.
Nina Bibby, Marketing and Consumer Director at O2, had this to say “”Only with O2 can you change your tech whenever you like without having to pay the penalty on your airtime. Encouraging feedback from our customers has led us to launch it on tablets this week.” We’re inclined to agree with here, but those looking for a tablet with 3G or even 4G could buy the device outright from anywhere and then get a cheap SIM-only contract from the likes of Three or even O2 themselves. Still, Refresh is a nice choice for those looking to upgrade more often and we’re sure the addition of tablets will help O2 Refresh grow further.
