The wait is almost over if you’ve been wanting to get your hands on the new 11.6-inch Chromebook from ASUS. The ASUS C200 Chromebook may not be here just yet, but the pre-orders for the very first Chrome OS laptop from ASUS have now started and as one might have expected you can grab them on Amazon for just $249. The C200 sports the Intel Bay Trail processor inside and has 2GB of DDR3 RAM, and it weighs just 2.5 lbs. Orders for the ASUS C200 Chromebook are set for a delivery date of June 10th, which is the second week of the month. That’s about 20 days out from now which isn’t too bad. You can also expect free shipping with that purchase so you won’t have to worry about spending any extra cash, unless you opt to have it shipped faster than standard.
Alongside the Bay Trail processor clocked at 2.16GHz, the C200 also sports a screen resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels. The Chromebook also comes with 16GB of internal SSD storage but don’t think that’s the only storage option you’ll have. Expect this Chromebook to come with extra Google Drive storage just like previous Chromebooks. It is a Google product after all so there will be plenty of ways to save and sync stuff to the cloud. Battery life should last you about 10 hours if it isn’t plugged in, which isn’t bad if you’ll be gone half the day and forget your charger. 11.6-inches may not be the biggest Chromebook display out there but should you have the need for something bigger, the ASUS C200 is equipped with HDMI out so you can plug the laptop into a larger display if you wish, whether that be your big screen or a bigger PC monitor.
Th other usual suspects are present. An SD card reader should allow you to freely transfer to and from the Chromebook any files or media that you want to store on the device or elsewhere. It has support for Bluetooth 4.0 low-energy and WiFi and carries a couple of USB ports if you need to connect your other devices. It wouldn’t be a Chromebook without an HD webcam, because you wouldn’t want to miss any opportunities to take advantage of hangouts. ASUS is set to release a 13-inch Chromebook as well down the road, although there isn’t a set release date for that model just yet, however once they list the time for when it launches and pre-orders go up on Amazon, we’ll inform you of that one too.
