For a little while now, we’ve been hearing more and more about another upcoming line of tablets from Samsung that will feature AMOLED displays as oppose to the usual LCD affairs that Samsung has been shipping in their tablets like the Galaxy Tab Pro line and Galaxy Note tablets. While a good chunk of information surrounding the devices has already leaked out, included leaked images we’ve still yet to hear anything official from Samsung. However, the Korean giant today has sent out invites for an upcoming event in New York next month.
The invitation from Samsung has the tag line of “Tab Into Color”, which is a not-so-subtle nod towards colorful AMOLED displays, and the thin, flat, slate-like surfaces featured in the images sure look like tablets to us. Of course, we could be wrong, but all signs are pointing to the Galaxy Tab S line of tablets to be announced next month in New York. Samsung’s is holding this “Premiere” event of theirs in the Madison Square Garden’s Theater, another clue that Samsung will be announcing entertainment devices.
So far, we’ve heard that the Galaxy Tab S line is to feature at least two devices coming in at 8.4 and 10.5-inches, with many of the same features from the Galaxy S5, including that dotted back and fingerprint sensor. According to rumor, the devices will be powered by the latest generation of Samsung’s Exynos octa-core processor and use an Intel LTE modem to reduce their reliance on Qualcomm processors. The real draw of these tablets however, will be their AMOLED displays, which Samsung has been using as a key marketing piece in their Galaxy S and Galaxy Note line of smartphones for years now. An AMOLED tablet could be a movie-lovers perfect device and the high-resolution of 2560 x 1600 could make for some of the best tablet displays on the market.
